Thrasher

Founded in 1981 by Eric Swenson and Fausto Vitello, Thrasher magazine started as an avenue for Swenson and Vitello to promote their skateboarding hardware company, Independent Trucks. Over the years, the magazine went from an Independent Trucks marketing tool to the most respected magazine in the skateboarding community, eventually earning the nickname “The Bible.” In the 2010s, Thrasher hoodies and T-shirts became popular amongst streetwear enthusiasts and eventually trickled down to everyday consumers, much to the chagrin of skateboarders defensive of their culture. Regardless of its visibility, Thrasher as a brand is as respected today as it was decades ago. It’s this respect that brings some of the biggest names in skateboarding to collaborate with Thrasher, such as Huf, Supreme and Vans.
